If your jaw hurts, you’re not alone — and we can help.
Jaw pain, headaches, clicking when you chew, a bite that feels off — these are all signs of TMJ (sometimes called TMD). It’s a common problem, and a frustrating one, because so many people have been to doctor after doctor without getting clear answers.
At LIFE A.I.D., TMJ care is one of Dr. Chin’s areas of focus. We take the time to understand what’s actually causing your pain, and we start with the simplest, gentlest treatment that works — not the most aggressive one.
“Many of our TMJ patients have been suffering for years. They come in tired, frustrated, and skeptical. They leave with a real plan — and finally, real relief.”
Signs you might have TMJ
- Jaw pain or soreness, especially in the morning
- Headaches or migraines that won’t go away
- Clicking, popping, or grinding when you open your mouth
- Your jaw locks or feels stuck sometimes
- Neck, shoulder, or ear pain you can’t explain
- Sore, worn-down, or cracked teeth
- Trouble chewing or a bite that suddenly feels different
- Disrupted sleep, or a partner who says you grind your teeth at night
What causes TMJ?
The jaw is a complicated joint. Stress, grinding teeth at night, a bad bite, an old injury, even sleep problems — any of these can trigger TMJ. Often it’s more than one thing at once. That’s why a real evaluation matters so much.
How we treat TMJ at LIFE A.I.D.
We always start by listening. Then we do a thorough exam — looking at your jaw, your bite, your muscles, your sleep patterns, and how everything connects. From there, we build a plan that fits you.
Most treatments are simple and non-invasive:
- A custom night guard. If you grind your teeth, a properly fitted guard can be life-changing. (The drugstore versions don’t work the same way — really.)
- Bite adjustments. Small changes that take pressure off your jaw.
- Muscle therapy and stretches. Targeted exercises you can do at home.
- Stress and lifestyle support. We’ll talk about what might be making things worse — and what could help.
- Referrals when needed. If physical therapy, sleep medicine, or another specialist would help, we’ll connect you.
Why our integrated approach makes a difference
TMJ is rarely just a “jaw problem.” It’s often tied to sleep, stress, posture, and overall health. Because we take a whole-person view at LIFE A.I.D., we don’t just treat the symptom — we look for what’s actually driving it. That’s why our patients often see relief that finally lasts.
